The park’s layout includes three walking lanes—fast, wandering, and functional—each shaping different interactions with nature. Preserved railway tracks honor the site’s industrial past, while green corridors, water features, and rooftop gardens strengthen ecological resilience. The urban square offers a balance of activity and retreat, with shaded seating, play areas, and spaces for social gatherings.
Lighting extends the park’s use into the evening, with illuminated rail tracks and adaptable lighting for nighttime events. Seasonal elements ensure year-round engagement, making The Pulse a vibrant, climate-conscious space where city life and nature seamlessly connect
The Pulse - Westbahnpark
The Pulse is a dynamic urban park that merges movement, rhythm, and sustainability. Inspired by the concept of a pulse—symbolizing flow, repetition, and energy—the design features a central lifeline that branches into pathways, guiding visitors through diverse experiences.
Designed for locals, youth, and travelers, the park fosters community engagement, cultural events, and artistic expression while maintaining a distinct identity. Sustainability is at its core, with green roofs, permeable paving, and native plants enhancing biodiversity and stormwater management. Repurposed structures and recycled materials reduce environmental impact, transforming the space into a model of circular design.
